Meet the Team

We liaise with our registered counsellors, link clients to counsellors and promote and manage the service

Sonia Richards

Sonia has worked for over 20 years in the psychotherapeutic field. She is a psychoanalyst and practices from her home in the middle of the Suffolk countryside.

Sonia originally trained as an Alexander Technique teacher and still teaches this.Sonia has one son, and more latterly has written several children's books on mental health, the first of which was published just over a year ago.

Dawn Kaffel

Working with both couples and individuals for the past twenty years has given me an insight into the importance of helping couples sustain a more stable, fulfilling relationship that works for them and grows stronger over time.

Helping clients to manage the challenges and struggles that we all face, whilst maintaining trust and respect for each other is more relevant now during this Covid 19 crisis than ever.

I am an accredited BACP Couples Counsellor having trained originally as a psychodynamic therapist but my particular interest is working with Emotionally Focused Therapy.

Denise Harry

Denise trained as an integrative counsellor and is a registered member of the BACP. She has a private practice based in Surrey, where she lives. Originally from New York, she moved to London in 1997 and now calls England home.
She started her career in publishing and transitioned to sales, but after having children decided to pursue her interest in mental health.

She strongly believes in the importance of looking after yourself, both physically and mentally, and in the connection between the body and mind. As Covid-19 has affected both our mobility and our mental wellbeing, she is keen to support those who need it.

Karen Pickin

Karen is a counsellor and supervisor, working with adults in private practice and young people in secondary schools. She also works as an associate counsellor with a local charity, providing support for people with cancer. Karen was previously a teacher for over 20 years, working with young people with additional needs.

Val O'Dea

Working in private practice, Val is a Counsellor providing Psychotherapy, supervision and training to individuals, Couples, Families and organisations. She is a member of the College of Sexual & Relationship therapists. Val works with the Ministry of Defence and Ambulance Service, with sufferers of Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He holds a Masters in Counselling Psychology on top of degrees at Imperial College and Manchester Business School. He has developed his original Integrative Person Centred Counselling training into Soul Centred Counselling, which he describes in his forthcoming book ‘So Now I Get It’, written as much for the layperson as for the professional.

Annie Heining

My main career has been in mental health within the NHS, as Head of Allied Health Professions. I retired from the NHS in 2017.
